What is good latency for CME trading?
Sub-5ms is excellent, sub-10ms is very good for retail futures trading. Our Chicago VPS typically achieves < 1ms to CME gateways.
No. Latency only affects network speed (how fast your order reaches the broker), not execution priority or fill price. Market liquidity and your broker’s own infrastructure also play major roles.
Routing, VPS location, ISP peering, and broker infrastructure all matter. Even two servers in the same city can have different latency if they use different network carriers.
NinjaTrader is a trading platform software, not a trading network itself. It connects to brokers like NinjaTrader Brokerage, Phillips Capital, or Dorman Trading. You should check the latency of your specific broker connection (e.g., Chicago CME Gateway).
